Teal (#008080)
Teal is a medium blue-green color. It is named after the common teal, a member of the duck family, whose eyes are surrounded by the color. The complementary color of teal is coral pink.

The color teal is displayed at right. It comes from a mixture of the primary color, blue, and the secondary color green, mixed with some gray.
Teal is one of the initial group of 16 HTML/CSS web colors formulated in 1987, shown below.
The first recorded use of Teal as a color name in English was in 1917.[3]

Teal blue is displayed at right. It is a medium tone of teal with more blue.
The first recorded use of teal blue as a color name in English was in 1927.[5]
The source of this color is the Plochere Color System, a color system formulated in 1948 that is widely used by interior designers.[6]

- In Windows 95 teal is the default background color.
- Teal Networks is a technology consulting company.[8]
- In an online vote, Teal was voted the most popular shade of blue just ahead of cornflower blue.
- There is a supplement to the regular Unitarian Universalist English hymnal (the cover of which is colored slate gray) called the teal hymnal, which consists of hymns in Spanish. It was first introduced in 2005 and greatly expanded in 2009.[9]
- In the bandana code of the gay leather subculture, wearing a teal bandana means that one's sexual fetish is cock and ball torture.[10][11]
- The San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League use teal as their main color. Their American Hockey League farm team Worcester Sharks also play in teal.
- The Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League use teal as their primary color. The Miami Dolphins use a teal-like color called "aqua green".
- The Detroit Pistons used teal as one of their primary colors from 1996 to 2001.
- The New Orleans Hornets of the National Basketball Association use teal as their primary color.
- The Port Adelaide Football Club uses teal as a minor color. Its main color is black with teal and white as its minor colors. It is the only team in the Australian Football League to use teal.
- The Penrith Panthers use teal for their alternative strip. It is the first exposure of the color teal to many Rugby League fans.
- Major League Baseball's Seattle Mariners use teal as a secondary color, calling it "northwest green." The Florida Marlins are nicknamed "The Boys in Teal."
- The Nintendo Game Boy is a small handheld video game system which is available in a pale tint of teal.
- Teal is a choice of team color in many video games.
